Installed a Ubiquiti point-to-point wireless bridge to extend reliable network connectivity from the main property out to a detached barn.

The objective

Extend the home network to a detached barn that was too far for a standard access point, delivering a fast, stable wired-quality link.

Challenges

The barn was beyond the reliable range of the existing exterior access point
An older exterior AP cable run needed to be cleaned up and concealed
The link had to be fast and stable enough for everyday use at the barn

Work completed

Cleaned up the existing exterior access point cabling and concealed it in raceway
Installed a Ubiquiti point-to-point wireless bridge between the buildings
Extended the network to the detached barn
Tested the link, measuring roughly 100+ Mbps at about 10 ms latency

Our approach

We tidied and concealed the existing exterior cabling in raceway, then aligned a Ubiquiti point-to-point bridge between the main building and the barn to carry the network across the gap, and tested throughput and latency to confirm a solid connection.

The result

The detached barn gained a fast, stable network connection — measured at roughly 100+ Mbps and about 10 ms latency during testing — with the exterior cabling left clean and concealed.
